“Select a leader who will address our health challenges in Lango.”
Lango region is one of the places that were brutally affected by the conflict in Northern Uganda. It is home to some of the worst massacres perpetrated by the LRA, and had hundreds of thousands living in IDP camps. The Barlonyo massacre was one of the most horrendous of the two decade long conflict. Lango is also the place where Aboke Girls high school, a school from which the LRA infamously abducted school girls is found. The Aboke Girls story has been widely publicised and is a subject of a book, and a new movie “Stolen Angels” in which Hollywood superstar actress Uma Thurman is going to act in.
Back to the point, Lango, like the rest of Northern Uganda is very poor. Access to medical services is limited, just like the rest of the country. The people’s needs here are not demands, they are merely human rights, to which they are entitled.
